Roads are funded from Consolidated Revenue, which is basically all of the money received from every source- taxes, fines, income taxes and so on.
Income tax makes up a far greater contribution than anything you pay at the bowser. Fuel taxes make up barely 3 percent of CR, whereas income tax makes up roughly 50 percent of CR.
It's plain to see that drivers crying about 'fuel taxes pay for roads' is simply misguided.
