I also looked into this last month, and it seems, although it is likely where battery tech may develop into, it is 10 years or more away. And even when they do get the tech there, it is likely to be only the high end vehicles and 80% of all manufacturing, ie what is being done now, will be using the current tech - ie using REEs.
