FunnyI have told AUS that many times and he does not see it as a problem. So yes I agree. the upper limit on 48 volts is 20 to 30KW 12 volts is 5 to 8 KW. PS motor is 1/8 to 1/4 HP. 1 HP is 750 watts 800 to 850 with efficiency. AC compressors incars are usually about 1 to 2 HP. So all very doable with 12volts. As far as safety goes anything over 36 volts in US needs tobe approved. by one of safety agencies UL, ETL, CSA ect. I think EU is 49. So 12 is fine for many tasks and it is being done right now. 48 is obviously better but the 150 to 200 volts is even better as long as properly designed, and only worked on bypeople that know what they are doing. Most of EU uses 220 AC for household outlets. For certain functions is 48 Volts better absolutely. I will stand by my original post most things automotivecan be done with 12 volts I will agree wire size will grow 4 X and motor size by about 30% but it can be done.
Most high power Batery tools are much higher than 36. Dewalt is 40, 60, and 120, E-GO is 56 volt.
