Not only do I think that the Tesla car will disrupt the industry , I think it will disrupt the retail model as well .
I think there might be a display in major shopping centres and maybe places like airports etc . Wherever there is lagre volumes of foot traffic . Largely static displays with a person to demonstrate the features . For those that actually want to test drive the car , that will be provided by a facility somewhere else . That somewhere else could easily be in an industrial estate rather than prime real estate type retail frontage . The other important difference will be that you order your car online . Pick the colors etc from the catalogue just like you buy other things online now . I think the days of the traditional sales person will slowly be replaced by something else . Think about all the stuff that you used to buy from a shop that you get online now . Computers , tv's etc . Who needs the salesperson ?
Haven't figured out how they will deal with the trade ins yet . Still thinking about that one .
