As someone who works in the renewable energy space and a direct competitor to Tesla, I can't begin to tell you how much influence Elon Musk and his marketing department have had on this industry.

I receive calls daily from the general public who want a Tesla powerwall. Every function I attend with family and friends it's always a topic of discussion and almost daily I see the company mentioned in mainstream news reporting - crikey, even when there is a car accident they disclose that it was a Tesla. How many times do you hear this with another manufacturer?

Tesla will soon be overtaken by the rest of the car manufacturing industry and yes, they may not be around in the medium to long term, but if you can't honestly contribute the massive groundswell around EV and renewable energy in general as directly attributed to Tesla then I am not sure what to say. Elon Musk didn't invent the revolution, but he was the disrupter that put the topic into every household in just about the entire world (yes, I am being slightly facetious, but the impact is huge)

The government, particularly in Australia is doing very little to support this industry and we are actually in the direction of going backwards rather than forwards. WA lithium story could be anything and the government need to pull their finger out and move mountains to ensure that as a country we capitalise on it's success.

2018 is going to be the year of energy storage in Australia and largely without government support. The ROI for a domestic solar / storage system is falling every month and when it falls below 10K and a payoff under 7 years for an average household, people will be falling over themselves to jump in (particularly when the outlay can be interest free). Again Tesla are massive contributors to this.

All I can say is I am glad I am in PLS.
