"electric gold"

I came across this interesting exerpt from Sinclair's website ..... has fascinating possibilities:

"Besides Gold climbing the monetary ladder there is, in addition to its vast range of applications, one which may just become a true blockbuster: Lighting up the World with White Light Emitting Diodes ( WLED ).

Unlike conventional light bulbs where most of the energy consumed is wasted as heat, WLEDs convert more than 99% of the energy they receive to light and their lifespan can reach 20 years (not good for GE either). WLEDs are already in many applications such as light torches, car lighting, path lighting, traffic lights, etc. They are also used by charities in Nepal, India and Sri Lanka to light up remote villages at minimal cost (www.lightuptheworld.org).

Production is ramping up constantly and new and more powerful versions are being brought to market. To paraphrase the late Carl Sagan, " Billions and Billions" of light bulbs will be replaced by WLEDs. What's this got to do with gold ? Well, at the heart of every WLED there is a little Gold wire that does all the work.

I just can't understand why the Gold websites haven't picked up on this yet. Increased gold consumption and lower energy waste, now that's something to get excited about"
