Did you read the article on depreciation you linked? It said nothing about about a comparison with ICEs, it was a comparison with other EVs.

Ly suggests that obsolescence might also play a role in the high rate of depreciation of electric vehicles:

Whoda thunk it. The "rapid improvement" in technology you guys prattle on about depreciates the existing fleet, just like computers.
