…
— Because AEM’s Charles Noble will be soon be ‘dedicated’ to working with Airbus…
— Because Testia is the Airbus division dedicated to working with NDT, SHM etc https://www.testia.com
—Because SMS signed an MOU with Testia back in early 2015 which looked fairly rosy [SMS signs MILESTONE MEMORANDUM with TESTIA an AIRBUS company 23/03/2015]
Except the contract expected ‘in weeks’ never appeared
Then in late 2015 shareholders were told the MOU was still active …. But it was not certain.
(on 27/11/2015 @bigane reported [here] ….. “Embraer and Airbus (Testia) are currently undergoing similar test to what Delta/Boeing have recently finished. The Embraer tests are on their E-Series commercial jets.
- The MOU/NDA's announced recently are still active.
They may be converted to commercial agreements in the foreseeable future, but this is pending the outcome of the upcoming meeting between Boeing/Sandia/Delta.” )
As an aside - on ‘testy’ rather than Tetia ; In December 2015 (21/12/2015 ) there was this wonderful announcement saying CVM had been installed in Delta aircraft [DELTA/BOEING/FAA IN-FLIGHT PROGRAMME - IMPORTANT CONCLUSION] “The Company is delighted to report that Boeing approval has now been granted in this regard, and similarly, that subsequent FAA approval is also confirmed. Both approvals will be fully documented and formalised in the near-term once the required paperwork has been prepared and
executed.”
*ouch* …
Back to Testia: No mention of Airbus/Testia in that news, or after, although @bonkers89 (who was doing some serious promoting back then wrote the Testia MOU was about to go gangbusters on CVM [here 03/01/2016 ]
“
- “Airbus- First approvals coming after the soon to be concluded “Boeing like testing” they are doing. The Testia commercial agreement associated with the NDA and MOU signed 2014 and 2015 respectively will be converted near term and Tesita will assist SMN seamlessly address the worldwide CVM market for airbus related sales…”
Then, despite the SMS HC forum expectations, the next thing I can so far find that happened with Testia in regards SHM sensors was that it signed an MOU with competition sensor maker Acellent in August 2017 [TESTIA and Acellent establish an MOU for Acousto-Ultrasonic Structural Health Monitoring systems].
Folowing this MOU, the Acellent site says:
______________________________________
https://www.acellent.com › news4 Oct 2018 — Acellent Technologies Inc. and TESTIA GmbH are pleased to announce a collaboration between the companies...See More.______________________________________
… Maybe someone else can dig this out in full as it seems to have become cached?
And I hope someone can dig it out, along with anything recent to do with SHM, as Testia, as of its’ presentation two years back at the Munich Symposium on Lightweight Design on 3 November 2020
https://www.testia.com/news/structural-health-monitoring-for-space-vehicles/
seemed to be favouring Acellent in regards Space Missions, but was open to exploring other kinds of sensor tech?
Here’s the video presentation in case anyone is interested:
FWIW the SHM sensor comparisons, including CVM, start at around 14 minutes.
I am guessing what is good for outerspace is also good for inside earth’s atmosphere?
And maybe one of Charles Noble’s key jobs will be to convince Testia that CVM is now the better option and get that 2015 MOU turned into something stronger?
cheers
