Iwrite to you because while covid cases grow and new strains of covid emerge,there is an Australian produced world class test that continues to awaitapproval by the TGA.

Inthe past 10 weeks, more than 18 rapidantigentests that have been approved inAustralia. Almost all are produced by large multi-national overseas companies.Almost all have been approved, yet their level of sensitivity and accuracy is mostly well below a gold class Australian product, which is still waitingapproval.

ThisAustralian test is called ‘Eugeni’. It is produced by a Queensland companycalled Anteotech.

Itis a test that has a 97% accuracy rating (comparable to existing PCR testsresults and confirmed by the Victorian Infectious Diseases Reference Laboratory).Itprovides a result in 15 minutes while the patient waits, at a fraction of the costand time when compared to the current PCR test. Currently costing up to $150 per test. A cost being borne by the Australian taxpayer and all visiting individuals and families.

So, Why?
Why are these overseas tests being approved and advanced, while a far superior Australianproduct waits in a queue for months?
Why would anyone make a decision to fast-track an inferior series of tests ahead of an Australian produced product with a far superior testing performance?
Whywould any regulatory body avoid fast-tracking a test that is cheaper, quickerand almost as effective, which could save millions of dollars for Governments andAustralians having to pay for less costly PCR testing?
Why would we not instead want to fast-track a cheaper, more efficient, highlysensitive test, which provides each person being tested with a low cost accurate result in 15 minutes?

I don't know why, which is why I write to you. How can a homegrown, farsuperior test not have been fast-tracked in the middle of a pandemic?

As a journalist we are hoping you will see that there is a public interesthere, with at least some questions to be asked.
