Great post Pints. One thing though about Taiwan because it is all linked. Xi wants Taiwan back to China and it will happen, IMO. If you look at history Taiwan was always part of China. The Nationalists who fled there having lost the "civil war" managed to stay safe only because of the US and China at that time was not strong enough. I would like to see a just settlement of this issue which could go along the lines of "agree to be part of China but continue with our separate development". Absent this, I suspect we could see "some form" of "WW3" which will make life very difficult for all.
