I think a convertable note holder holds debt to the company...therefore they have already given the money...
To convert to shares simply says:
they are happy not to get the money back, they are willing to take (convert to) an equity positon (shares) rather than debt position (Loan).
so to answer your question I don't think KRL get any more money
