Subject: Thailand government expedite stainless steel expansion project

Due to strong international demand of stainless steel, Thailand government actively play a role to help its local steel mills with expansion projects. THAINOX and G Steel Public are submitting expansion projects to eliminate the reliance of import. Thainox, which is the one and only local professional stainless steel mill, possesses annual capacity of 180,000 tons for cold rolled products. However, it is estimated that local demand of stainless steel will reach to 400,000 tons in 2008. Thus, Thinox put total investment of USD1 billion on expansion project with the help of the Thailand government. Besides, the hot rolled steelmaker, G Steel Public, was approved an expansion project last Nov.. With the completion of project, G Steel will increase its annual capacity to 3.40 million tons.
