I think its unavoidable this sort of behaviour will continue while, mostly male, athletes are feted and put up on a pedestal for skills with bat ball etc.When they or their families are sick they will go to the worthy of our admiration, the scientists and medical fraternity
Money and an unhealthy belief that they are untouchable combines to create an ugly persona. Not many however fall victim to their own magnificence, despite medias preoccupation with all things sport (except womens sport I notice).
Maybe a week or two volunteering in a cancer unit or homeless shelter to bring home how fortunate they are to find themselves in such an enviable position, rather than a token punitive financial slap on the wrist.
