Hi all,
I don't know where the WBC share price is going in the short term, still you'd think in the long term the big four banks are going to come out of this schmozzle more firmly entrenched than ever.
- The credit crunch is battering their smaller and non-bank competitors.
- The goverment is bending over backwards to skew the playing field further in their favour out of fear of having a financial disaster on its watch.
- The government, as well as those around the world, is also flooding the system with money to offset the worst effects of what might happen.
The majors are already getting away with not passing on rate cuts in full. They could get away with heaps more at the moment - all they have to do is point to the credit crisis and look sombre. No-one in government will dare tackle them on it.
Recession or not, when it's all over the big four will almost certainly have even more of a vice-like grip on the banking sector.
No wonder the fund managers are buying.
