I have had a life of adventure and done it all without broadcasting it to all and sundry


I can't stand all this self agrandisement and this pandering to the cult of the "adventurer"

it is all a myth

just take one example

all those dills decked out in their hi tech hiking gear walking to everest base camp and pretending to be adventurers

then along comes this nepalese guy wearing thongs and carrying jerry can of kerosene strapped to his forehead with a bit of roughly hewn hemp.

a little later the big adventurer will eat a yak steak and beer cooked with the kero carried by the nepalese porter and drink a beer after having hot solar shower

he will then probably write an article about it and probably tell all his friends what an adventure it was

same thing here with Jessica Watson..she is going to appear the big adventurer and none of her nepalese porters will get any credit.
