PowerTel has announced agreements that will include a syndicate of Australian investors, led by former Optus Vision head Geoffrey Cousins, taking over WilTel's debt and equity interests in PowerTel.

The syndicate also includes Ozemail backer Trevor Kennedy and entre-preneur Sam Gazal, who are expected to join the telecom company's board along with Mr Cousins.
