Pewal says it very true. People only listen and thumbs up what they want to hear rather than 'need' to hear because they are looking for others who support their same point of view.
Others as well as El Capo, such as BinBin on this forum have got it right too and unfortunately many times it is the contributors who people should be listening to that end up getting chased away. This is the nature of an emotional forum such as this.
I believe there is a quiet majority who do enjoy and respect reading everyone's thoughts. Those are the ones I post to.
