depends if you are dealing online or through a tradional broker
commsec in their product disclosure statement gives you 1 day of credit i.e. if you buy today and sell tomorrow they do not debit your account for the purchase and simply credit (if profit) or debit (if loss) the difference between the buy and sell price to your bank account
at least that is how i understand it
