Celtic Resources posts 62pc gold rise

Irish precious metals explorer, Celtic Resources, today said its total gold production for 2006 increased 62pc year-on-year to 61,520 ounces with an average realised gold sales price of USD609.21 per ounce.

Gold production at the company's Suzdal project soared 152 pct to 51,785 ounces, which includes 2,552 ounces of gold inventory, thanks to greater plant availability and overall improvements in plant operation.
Zherek, in which Celtic has a 75 pct interest, saw a 44 pct decrease in gold production at 9,735 ounces due to lower grade oxide and transitional ores delivered to the heap. Total attributable gold production for 2006 was up 75 pct to 59,086 ounces.


"We are seeking further group gold production increases in 2007. We also intend to make significant progress on the Miheevskoye and Tominskoye copper-gold projects and to increase production at the Shorskoye molybdenum project," managing director Kevin Foo said in a trading statement.
