I thought his response was simply a statement of fact. He was surprised to receive the notice of the EGM. What was the alternative, to say he expected it or anticipated it!?
To have expected or anticipated a spill motion, would be to open the door to speculation, or admission that there is significant unrest within the board. Never a good message to send on camera.
