'The 13 stages of a Hotcopper emerging stock'

    1. Dormant explorer releases potential company making news. A volume spike follows without necessarily raising the price
    2. A very savvy HC poster's attention is drawn to the stock. After doing his own research and being convinced the right conditions exist for the company to be successful he takes an early postition.
    3. The Savvy investor posts his findings on HC. This draws the attention of other savvy and experienced investors who, after DYOR, also take a position.
    4. The SP makes it's first break.
    5. Less experienced posters are now drawn to the stock. Some DYOR, even though all should. But everyone gets an opportunity to learn whilst making money.
    6. Market price climbs and Clarke Kent makes passing snide comments.
    7. Stockmarket novices delight to find out the company will issue them cheap loyalty "oppies". They will in fact get 1 "oppie" for every 5 "heads". At this stage Clarke Kent does have a point. The words "oppies" and "heads" are used a lot
    8. Mountains of scrip 'disappear' from the market as traders are pushed out and longer term savvy investors raise their holding
    9. Clarke Kent becomes manic
    10. Numerous good news reports continue to flow and world class employees are drawn to this still seemingly insignificant company.
    11. Production begins, the SP is many many multiples of the original price. Holders "hi five" each other but care is taken though to not damage their new Rolex watches
    12. The SP rises to $6 and enters the ASX200. Clarke kent buys a few thousand shares as he likes to take an early position when stocks hit the index.
    13. Another 2 years pass and the SP rises to $9. Clarke Kent, in his trademark condescending manner, gives the newbies a lecture on how clever he is to only buy safe quality blue chips.
