    The budget lacks courage

the stage 3 tax cuts already deliver a sugar hit.. across the board.. there are no losers

so the courageous thing to do, at budget time would have been to demonstrate a disciplined response to the carping and whining of middle Australia about 'cost of living'..

yet this govt succumbed to the handouts mentality..

When are govts going to stop spending and cap increases to welfare obligations and handouts to lifestyle crisis middle and upper Australia ?

Our Aussie dollar immediately jumped not because Australia is tightening its belt and sending a message of austerity but because those much smarter than the rest of us know that this budget is not going to a damn thing to curtail inflation and in fact, will most likely result in the baton being passed once again, to the RBA, to unleash more tightening because the GOVT refuses to do so.. the likelyhood of further rate rises just gained traction as a result of this budget

i would love to see the Aussie $ go up, but because we export more, build more, save more.. not because international traders believe that our govt cannot control inflation, doesn't know how to and for the lack of any real quality policy, are going to stoke inflationary pressure for far longer

Govts need to learn to say no..

structural reform must happen soon, tax welfare, property welfare, tax offsets handouts and incentives, spiralling NDIS, spiralling social security, spiralling Medicare, spiralling defence and health, spiralling wage demands as inflation outstrips wage growth..

seems like an opportunity lost to me
