The passage isn't for choosing the wrong God. It's for worshipping the beast and his image, and receiving his mark on forehead or hand.

Correct! At Revelation 13:16, 17, it was revealed that during the Lord’s day those who are loyal to Jehovah and do not worship the image of the wild beast would suffer and even be killed.
