I agree tom - I am not a huge sports fan, and I agree that the Feds should not be building stadiums in OZ, except maybe to help with an Olympics or World Cup bid. Sports players are massively overpaid, no doubt about it - and the fans pay. We do need a lot more nurses and teachers - and doctors. The government is doing something about that, believe it or not. Did you know that uni students doing nursing and teaching are now being paid when on placement ? Did you know that almost 2,000 doctors emigrated to Australia from the UK last year? ( I don't have the figures for nurses and teachers). It was not long ago that the Chinese were rumoured to be building a naval base in PNG - don't quote me, but I think it was Manus Island. There is a lot that we do not know about. China is spending billions in the Pacific . $600 million over 10 years is a drop in the ocean. We saw what happened with the Solomon Islands.

https://www.medicalrepublic.com.au/med-students-left-off-the-list-for-placement-poverty-relief/107252 Nursing, midwifery, teaching and social work students undertaking unpaid mandatory placements may be eligible for the federal government’s new payment aimed at relieving “placement poverty”.
But medical students have not made the cut.
The TRUE story should be told not only the positive parts
