Its very simple really.Because Australia has jumped on the US bandwagon of "us vs them" with China as an enemy, instead of using a partnership approach.
Therefore Australia have to dish out money to compete. That's essentially what the $380 billion subs are about, targeting China as an enemy. This $600m to build a stadium is pocket change.
