Not if you choose to take steps to recover from
said abuse. We are only defined by life’s events
if we are devoid of self examination or don’t
want to walk the road less travelled and help
ourselves move forward.

The road to recovery from said trauma will define who you are. Some choose alcohol to escape the pain and some choose activism. The trauma never goes away, one just comes to live with it.
