Yes...a lot of this may be due to dry communities...not sure how mnay longrassers and homeless filled out the census but that aside look at the data on binge drinking...alcohol violence...alcohol deaths....alcohol health issues...

Many dont need to worry about waking up for work tomorrow and they want to forget about yesterday.

If you dont think there are drinking problems go to the town camp in Jabiru...fitzroy crossing..Oenpelli..the pubs in South Hedland...the Foreshore in Darwin..Kununur, Derby,Broome, Roebourne all around Alice and probably the most classic is the main road in Katherine ie the stuart highway...I could spend all night on totally disfuctional camps/towns.
Most places in the Territory and I know of and every bottle shop or outlet in Darwin now will not allow you to buy more than $100 worth of grog without supplying your drivers licence and asking you where it will be consumed.
Or they shut the buttle shop on pension day, they ban bare feet in the bottle shops etc etc...nobody says its because of a sector in the community with drinking problems as thats racism but everyone knows....tis a shame

Dont get me wrong, Im not saying alcohol is the only problem but its a real mess up north.
Its not just the individuals, its the kids they drink in front of, then fight in front of, then smash property in front of then beat their wives in front of.

I spent 3 months in Katherine...3 months in Alice...17 years in the Pilbara...6 months in Jabiru and 10 years in Darwin and have travelled extensively through pilbara kimberleys and top end for work and pleasure.
