Well it would equal that frasier IF the only income the government had was from personal income taxes. But of course in fact they raise income from corporate taxes, excise of various kinds esp tobacco and alcohol, the GST, plus a host of other charges. Therefore it is misleading to equate government welfare paid to personal income taxes received, and in this particular case I see it as just the usual attempt by the conservatives to vilify a single mother. Why is your hypothetical single mother on a full pension anyway ? Where is the father, or don't you care? Dave R.
