I would rather live in a society with welfare payments than one without, but I guess we differ on that also. Dave R.

All forms of welfare are not equal eg those older Australians led to expect they would qualify for an age pension so didn't make provision, veterans and their families, the sick and genuinely disabled.
On the other hand, welfare ranging from unemployment benefits to single parent allowances to "middle class welfare" are all fair game. None of these recipients ought expect something for nothing. Not only eligibility but also longevity of benefits ought be tightened considerably.
