Could be that the incumbents wait & see how successful different storage systems are before they jump in.
Whatever the source energy (renewables/ battery/ etc) , power utilities know how to manage/control the grid, it's just power conditioning and now with battery storage as an additional power source.
I see the CWE/EMC value-add in Island & Remote grids but I wouldn't attribute too much value to integrating into existing grids.
