Have you ever written a scientific report? There are accepted methods for calculating the error margins which they must adhere to. Sure, lower error margins would be great, but this is reality we are talking about not some fantasy land inhabited by people who think the earth is cooling and 9-11 was a US govt conspiracy etc etc etc.
