This part: “suggests it's brokers constantly unloading”, brokerage firms do hold shares, sometimes they trade against their clients and sometimes they hold them for long term trends and sometimes they hold them for shorting. A simple reading of your post tells me you were implying the “brokers” themselves were making the conscious decision to offload. I countered that by saying the shares held “in street” by the retailers were the ones responsible, which is the far more likely scenario.
