I use the KJV, but constantly on guard for the vital areas and then I ref to the Interlinear on Bible Hub, but DON'T just swallow their English translations bellow the Greek words.
You click on the number and up comes the definition of the Greek word, sometimes they will have a few options, but I try and stick to the first.

But, what you select HAS to align, support the overall Bible theme.
1:1, I am no Greek, we see Theon and Theos and some suggest Theos is a God.
However from the little I read, if it means a god, then it is preceded with a marker or two or two letters.
Also as to whether Theon or Theos is used, (as Theos IS used for The God through out the NT as well), it depends whether God follows a subject or in front.
Hence in 1:1 God follows the word (subject) and in the last, precedes the word.
Word as in this become the starter for 1:2 as "this";
"This" now incorporates his plan, less personifies the word and then we see in 1:3, word is ref a "it" and "this" in 1:4 and it continues like that.
The order of words in 1:1 and 1:14 have been tampered with, you cannot mess with them.
Look at two verses re John I posted to Mr G today, nothing of a sort in there referring to Jesus pre-existing before John the Baptist = Fraud, theft = Look to Rome the ones that admittedly added the Baptism formula in Matt around 200 AD.

Re Eph 3:9 - just look and see how many Bibles (truck loads) do Not have the words, re Jesus and the Interlinear matches.
LOOK how Mr G sneakily used the likes of the KJV, when their own NWT does Not include Jesus = deception.
We do have verses re through Jesus creation, but look at the defined terms in the Interlinear Dia and a whole new picture emerges showing you why God and God alone, by himself, created all things Isa 44:24, Psa 33:6,9 could make this any clearer.
