Are you advocating increasing prices in order to become more 'competitive' - i.e. increasing the price of chutney and start making it in Oz?
What makes you think that an 'expensive' Australian made chutney will be competitive in the world markets?
You could argue the exact opposite - make the Oz Chutney cheaper and a far superior product than any that currently exists on the market. Compete internationally and gain market share.
Sorry not a chutney eater, but the basics of 'good business management' are the same for most consumer products.
Relying purely on the 'lower AUD' and higher consumer prices will not make any country rich.
Whenever economists talk about devaluation of the AUD, must ask "compared to what"? All the other currencies in the world?
Inflation may create some jobs, but robs savers and pensioners blind.
I'm all for more exports. Do it with technology, education, low taxes, good business climate not money printing and trashing the currency.
