Well what we need to do in respect of automation by robots. Tax the company on a how many people does this robot replace basis.
Then have a living wage which gives people a good standard of living.
As for the big miners, well RIO and BHP have said their agenda is to have all their mining equipment automated and run offshore or at the best in a building in Sydney. In the building in Sydney will only be a few maintenance and operating staff. On site will be a few maintenance and operating staff. I think BHP now has about 6 - 10 fully autonomous big dump trucks.
The government needs to tax these corporations up front for every ton of ore that is dug and not tax them on their tax returns.
Shifting money offshore using loans, licensing, fees, interest all supplied by the corporations from its off shore location to "MINIMISE" tax is not acceptable and this is why we need an upfront tax payable about 4 times a year. Stop all the tax kickbacks like Diesel fuel rebates and a host of others.
We all know big corporations do this and our government allows them to do this. Tens of billions of our tax dollars are disappearing offshore and this government wants to cut their tax.
Lets consider that really apart from corporate profit there is no benefit to our economy of replacing people with autonomous machines. Governments need to start looking at the economic benefit and not letting corporations just replace people whenever they want.
The economy/environment is the important thing here and the question is. "Is this beneficial to the people, our economy and our environment. If the answer is no then dont do it.
