Hmmm....."Mr Hogan said his messages were misinterpreted." He said:
"My intention was to have a private correspondence or send a letter in regards to the blogger's position in Factor Therapeutics, of which he is a director."
I think Kim Hogan is just digging a deeper hole for himself saying this. What he saysdoesn't make sense to me. If he really wanted to discuss something with Chris Behrenbruch he could have easily sent him an email to the address listed on his website.
If I received Kim Hogan's messages, I would have interpreted it to mean intimidation rather than a benign request to "discuss stuff".
The industry needs healthy counter-views to balance out all the one-sided positivity that exists at the moment. It worries me that analysts will see this Oncosil/Forrest Capital heavy-handed response to negative commentary to just become even more frightened than they already are about saying honest negative stuff about the companies they report on.
Who would want to risk saying negative stuff if it meant you'd probably cop an ear-bashing from your boss "don,t say that negative stuff, are you trying to exile us from the whole industry?"at the least or lose your job or suffer legal threats at the worst.
Sounds like industry protectionism to me and a stifling of free speech.
As a share investor, I want to hear intelligent opinions from commentators, not just a bland rehashing of company announcements.
I guess, in this instance, we just wait and watch to see how the OSL story unfolds. The current state of play is muteness on progress on the CE Mark application and FDA IDE application, the appointment of Chris Roberts, which is a real coup for the company, the money in the bank looking a little bit low at around $5m and legal threats directed at someone making negative commentary about hte company coming from Martin Rogers and intimidating-sounding emails coming from Forrest Capitsl, a significant shareholder and floater and previous fund-raiser for the company.
So how will it all unfold?
I guess the question comes down to "Do you trust the company to keep you fully informed of the bad news as well as the good news?"
How companies handle reporting bad news is a biggie when it comes to safe share investing and is a real test for a company.
