PURE Speculation has passed its five-year milestone and looking back at an early edition we were reminded how fickle markets can be.
The winners of the Intersuisse resources index for fiscal 2007 have since fared variously.
The big success story then was Marathon Resources (MTN) with a 1173 per cent rise over the year to $6.13.
Now, with its uranium hopes shot down by the South Australian government, the stock last week traded around 9c.
In second place was Western Metals, which became Indago Resources and last month was delisted. Austpac Resources (APG) rose 864 per cent to 20.5c on BHP coming on the register, but now trades just north of 4c.
Fourth placegetter Ramelius Resources (RMS) is starting to build back to its 2007 high, but poor old Bannerman Resources (BMN) -- while rising 765 per cent to $3.53 then -- now trades around 35c.
