I'm happy with this government that I voted for. I voted labor for the first time in my 77 years so it was not an easy decision. I had had enough of the Costello/Howard fiasco. The libs sold more of the farm than Labor. Take Telstra. It was only the sale of Telstra that enabled the savings Libs claim to have been made. They sold Telstra and put the bulk into this misnamed futures fund. They did reduce the government debt but in doing so they transferred it to the private sector. Australia's overall debt grew and grew under Howard and Costello.
Swan acted on OZL. Shareholders there are benefiting from that deal and a new copper mine has been saved for the farm. I expect some action on LYC to save control for Aussieland.
What could the Libs do that would be better than the job that is being done by Rudd,Swan and Gillard?
LYC holders may suffer a little short term pain but that will mainly by felt by dealers and traders. Investors will benefit longer term if the government restricts the deal.
