I recall our first interview with a bank manager back in the 1960s re buying a house in Neutral Bay for $17000 or thereabouts.
We both had good jobs but my wife had to be restrained when he said "but you might get pregnant ".
Funny how that didn't seem to matter when we came up with another $2000 or thereabouts.
But what can you do? They've got the money and you want to borrow it.
