I have contacted the Company to clarify your query about patent rights and the broad answer is that Pinnacle VRB still owns patents and IP for Australia, for the redox battery. Rob Blackwell replied by email.
“VRB Power Systems Inc (www.vrbpower.com), formerly Vanteck (VRB) Technology Corp, was the majority shareholder (effectively the “owners”) in Pinnacle VRB Ltd until about March 2005. A friendly “divorce” was arranged between the two companies which saw Pinnacle returned to wholly Australian ownership. As part of the “settlement”, VRB Power Systems gained all the patents and intellectual property related to vanadium redox battery technology that were formerly owned by Pinnacle, except for the patents and IP applicable to Australia. Pinnacle does not get any royalties from VRB Power Systems sales.
Pinnacle now has an “arms length” commercial relationship with VRB Power Systems and can supply Canadian manufactured VRB systems to customers in Australia and NZ.” .....
