I guess it depends on the speculation. Personally I've only ever contacted management to try and get elaboration on exactly that, speculation or contradictory statements in announcements. But I have found replies often create more questions then it answers. I have never been satisfied by answers given to me by Glyn in the past but to be honest I didn't really expect any more at the time. I think your example of reply from Glyn sums up my experiences perfectly. What has he actually told you that was speculation? Nothing. Just that they don't like to report regularly on their company, which we already knew. Glynn is not suddenly going to start presenting more reports even though he said he would consider. It's investor PR, stroking the ego if you like, that's all.
I think OBJ need to be more transparent and keep investors more informed, however, it's their decision and their perogative. As long as we understand as investors that this approach is going to reflect on the share price as many investors simply won't invest when they don't have the required information to make an informed investment decision.
In the meantime we just have to be patient.
