To be honest I see the argument for consolidations on other threads and am somewhat bemused by why and what people are arguing about.
I take the view , learned from the fund managers I discuss these things with, is that all that matters is earnings per share. i.e. grow earnings and divide it by the number of shares on issue.
So if it's a penny share or a $100 share, it doesn't matter. What is the rate or growth of EPS that I am preapred to pay? That determines the P/E ratio.

Now what I believe is a better question is did MLX pay to much in it's acquisition of Wesgold . At the time I believe so.
However, now the gold assets are being demerged as WGX and the gold holdings that have been added to are being monetised. So Cookie is off the hook as he did build wealth for all shareholders, but mainly for himself, and isn't that always the way.

BTW my opinon on these issues isn't worth much.
What I can say is - "Winners are grinners".
Which may not be fair but that's what seems to matter.
