How amazing. Thank you a ton for this, its something I will look into more out of curiosity sake and has great relevance for herbal medicines like Kava and their success in the Chinese market.
To note regarding Kava in China - if a doctor does prescribe Kava for anxiety the state pays for it and not the patient. So in terms of preexisting state recognition of the plant as a medicine, its well and truly there. Whether doctors ever prescribe it for anxiety, thats another question, although it does shine light on how they look at Kava and how seriously they take herbal medicines.
