We have 2 cross shitzu's and we never give them manufactured food other than a schmacko each per night. As I have an offset smoker I fire it up with wood/charcoal once every 4 months and use hickory chips to flavour 8 to 10 kilos of chicken thigh. Cook for 2 to 3 hours in foil trays (with some olive oil to prevent sticking). Let cool overnight then break up via a blender into a cooked mince then add 20 % peas and 20% corn 20% brown rice (all cooked of course) and package in large zip locks for freezing.
The hickory smoking actually disguises (upto a point) the smell of chicken if its ben sitting in the fridge for too long so it remains edible.
So hickory smoked chicken with brown rice, peas, corn = no constipation
