Our dog became ill from eating cheap canned dog food which was extremely high in fat. It seems that what was on the label was not in the can. Some pet food manufactures realise there is a good quid to be made from pet food and the lax labelling laws allow them to do what they like.
After advice from our vet, we have become more aware of the differences in pet food and now keep away from the cheaper brands. There are a few Aussie companies out there that make good quality pet food. Touching base with a vet or a dog breeders group can assist with getting some ideas.
We have switched to Advanced dog food in the can and Ivory Coat as the dry food. Along with some home cooked meals. Our dog has not had any more problems and seems very happy and content.
