Splits are staring to show in other metals markets as well especially Nickel. Battery makers will be looking to source high quality Ni from sulphide ore deposits rather than the more common lower grade laterite Ni that has helped drive the Ni price down over the past few years.
Some companies are just starting to wake up to this now. BHP announced downstream processing investment at Nickel West where most of the ore comes from Mt Keith & Leinster (sulphides), whilst Ravensthorpe announces its closure (laterite deposit)
