A perfect example of people going to extremes (especially where money is involved) is the when Lawyers created the "no win, no fee" policy. Suddently everyone was free game and now people are sueing the pants of everyone to the point where we spend massive down time filling out rediculous paperwork. You should have a look into how much this effects our health system......
The sub prime stuff is also another case of people going to extremes, in this case at the detriment of the whole world.
And it comes back to greed.
