There are many kids who were scarred by the dairy farm experience of the 60’s and 70’s.
Farms too small, returns too low etc.
You must admit it gives you some intestinal fortitude and a work ethic.
We had an interesting experience today.
First caesarean on a cow to get a very big calf out.
Calf and cow are alive. Just trying to find somewhere dry for her to recuperate.
Cattle are worth so much at the moment it was a reasonable risk to have a go.
In past years we would have probably shot her based on the fact that the vet fees would exceed the value of the animal.
