As Kermit the frog sang: "It's not easy being green". Limiting one's environmental impact is an admirable goal, but the problem in terms of investment is that we don't yet have any truly green choices (that I am aware of). This is the fundamental reason for the failure of these funds.
All companies operate within our fossil-fuel-driven economy, and most so-called green technologies still depend heavily on extractive industries making them a marginal improvement at best (and a con job at worst). The best that most companies can claim in terms of their green credentials, is that they are not directly a miner or O&G enterprise, and perhaps they have solar voltaics on the roof.
We currently have the situation where global bitcoin mining alone is consuming a similar amount of energy as the nation of Belgium. I've actually heard crypto fanatics pointing this out as being a good thing - a mark of the legitimacy of crypto-currencies. As long as this sort of useless waste of resources is allowed to go unchecked, there is no hope IMO.
