The bigger picture

Firstly, happy to share my personal experience with making money in share markets:

1. You have to be right in the beginning
2. You have to be patient along the way
3. You have to be able to filter noises
4. You have to be LUCKY

I have had many successful short term trades in the last few years, while flipping $20k in a day is fun, nothing pays off when compared to my long term positions, apart from the obvious tax reasons for CGT, a big factor I believe why everyone should once in a while take a long view is:

Active management destroys value.

I was in FBR 2 years ago, many old friends here and many new comers. If you can forget about the price action of today, yesterday, last week or last month, and take a look the life phase where FBR current sits, after I put together below, it made me holding my breath for a few seconds:

May 2016: Showcase H105
July 2016: Construction of HX started
Sep 2016: 1^st Cornerstone investment by HunterHall, Cashflow de-risk (A$8m)
Sep 2016: 11 houses contract for Archistruct
Sep 2016: Bricks and adhesives used by Archistruct approved by council
Apr 2016: FBR relocation to proper facility
July 2017: MoU with Caterpillar Inc, Strategy Board, Steering Committee, IP sharing, etc ($A2m)
Aug 2017: MoU with Kingdom of Saudi Arabia government to build 50,000+ houses (100+ HX)
Sep 2017:
Oct 2017:
Nov 2017: HX assemble completes (estimate)
Mar 2018: 1^st house built (estimate)

My view in this goes very very very long.
